This is a detailed scheme of work (over 40 pages) that I created as part of our new scheme of work for the upcoming academic year. A PowerPoint resource for the poem Dulce et Decorum est by Wilfred Owen. It starts with a small bio to uncover the context of the poem. This lesson analyses Elizabeth Bishops ‘The Fish’ regarding themes, metaphors, similes and more.

A PowerPoint presentation that analyses Bertie and Lionel's relationship in The Kings Speech. There are links to two particular scenes showing the development of the relationship embedded in the PowerPoint which are used for students to analyse. Students are then asked to work in pairs to create a timeline of this relationship. Students have clear aims from the start and deep analysis of the relationship is explored using questioning, visual prompts, pair and individual work.

In this lesson we look at how influential minor characters such as Candy, Slim and Carlson are in Of Mice and Men. We look at how these men are examples of where they are victims of the American Dream also. An English Language Paper 2 Non Fiction Booklet which can be used for revision or for lessons. There are 6 articles with 20 questions and also a long question focusing on the writers’ opinions and perspectives. There is also an aswer booklet for the 120 questions.

This PowerPoint and remote learning instructions introduces Haikus in a simple way. It is for remote learning during the lockdown. The ‘Do Now’ exercise tests students’ prior knowledge on syllables as this is required. It then shows students an example of a Haiku, going through the structure and language. Students are then asked to watch a YouTube video for the process and then asked to create their own Haiku. The plenary is to create their own ‘Lockdown Haiku’ which can be emailed to you and the chosen winners will be on a format like Padlet.

This lesson introduces students to Macbeth by posing questions in relations to historical context and staging at the time. Throughout the PowerPoint students have to answer questions and engage with images from the play to aid them in their understanding of the play as they read it.
